Summerhill Golf Club

Summerhill Golf Club is the membership Summerhill Golf Course. The membership with an elected committee run thriving mens, ladies, senior and junior sections and boast an extensive fixtures list for competitive and social events throughout the year.

The Course

The challenging nine-hole 5858 yards par 70 course was designed to test and stretch the skills of the experienced golfers, yet not intimidate newcomers to the game. Summerhill was designed by Mr Bob Sandow, known for having designed over 130 courses worldwide. The course was built to an exceptional standard and also to U.S.G.A. specifications with the same construction of tees and greens as used on the American professional circuit.

Under new ownership in October 2000 the course has undergone improvements to the greens and drainage and new bunk sand and water hazards. Also, on completion in the summer of 2002 is a 3 hole par 3 pitch and putt course , ideal for juniors, beginners or just for those golfers needing a little practice.

Membership

Membership of Summerhill is for golfers wishing to enjoy all the traditions of golf in a friendly and relaxed environment at a price that represents excellent value for money. A variety of memberships are on offer; full, weekday, senior, student, junior and country membership. Junior golfers are particularly welcomed, especially to join in our Junior Sessions where they will be encouraged to improve their game, understanding of the rules and golfing etiquette. Beginners are also welcomed and encouraged with many group sessions throughout the summer evenings with the visiting professional.

The Clubhouse

The Clubhouse has panoramic views over the surrounding countryside and of golfers playing up the 9th fairway and onto the green.

Facilities include men's and ladies' changing rooms, a well stocked golf shop, a club room and bar - offering food and drinks. There is also a separate function room for all your special events.

Late summer 2002 saw the completion of an upgrade of the existing changing facilities, a new golf shop and renovation of the club room including restaurant.

Summerhill welcomes and caters for weddings, conferences, business meetings and any special occasions. Summerhill is privately owned and open to the general public. The management and staff welcome everyone to come along and sample the relaxed and informal atmosphere of the clubhouse, perhaps enjoy a coffee on the patio or a bar snack or Sunday lunch in the clubhouse.

Societies and Green Fees

Summerhill is the ideal venue for casual green fees, societies and company golf days, with a wide range of tailored golf packages representing excellent value for money. Packages include 9, 18 and 27 holes with a full catering service available 7 days a week.

Course Etiquette

All golfers are expected to have basic grounding in golf etiquette and are reminded to avoid slow play at all times. Our dress code is collared shirts, tailored shorts or trousers and spikes or approved golf shoes, no other dress will be tolerated.

Golf Professional

Summerhill has a visiting Professional available for individual and group lessons for all ages and abilities. Bookings only.
